Did Avatar deserve to win best picture?

I personally do not like the movie Avatar so I don't think it deserves to win for best picture. If you took away the 3D effects in Avatar it's pretty much like all other movies. The story line really isn't that special. It's actually really predictable.
Sure with the 3D effects the movie seems like an amazing technical innovation, but the script sucked.  The characters are dull and the relationships between the characters are very typical and generic. The love scenes were too sappy and the fight scenes were very shallow and boring.
There were so many other movies that deserved to win that actually had a good hardy script and decent visuals. Movies that actually made you feel upset, angry or thrilled during scenes that were adventurous but still had just enough emotion in them to make you really feel like you were in the movie. Not scenes like, "Oh no, the big bad human is coming to kill us. Quick! Let's have sex!" like seriously? I think that was the strangest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
Avatar just made me uncomfortable and want to fall asleep. It was boring and dry. It really did not deserve that award.

Favorite/Greatest Movie Hero

My favorite hero from one of my favorite movies is Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl.

The movie is about pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow is played by the actor Johnny Depp. The movie was realeased in the year 2003.

My hero fits the "hero pattern" because:

  • they're courageous
  • they have a cocky attitude
  • they do what they want
I'm not really sure of the birth of this hero... it's never really explained.
Their journey is to become the best pirate ever and they do succeed.
People thought it was impossible for him to conquer his task.
He returns to his home out at sea.
He doesn't generally have a love interest. He kinda just goes for any woman he sees/meets. He doesn't need a love interest to be a generally cool guy.

This hero is the best because he does what he wants and doesn't follow everyone else's rules. I personally think that is someone who is a hero. They don't go by what other people tell them to do. If they did, would they really accomplish anything? No. Probably not. If Superman always had someone telling him what to do then he really wouldn't be that great would he? He's not doing things out of his own will and good being. He's doing things because other people tell him to do them. That would just be lame. So I think that a true hero doesn't listen to what other people have to say and just go and do whatever the heck they want.
