I personally do not like the movie Avatar so I don't think it deserves to win for best picture. If you took away the 3D effects in Avatar it's pretty much like all other movies. The story line really isn't that special. It's actually really predictable.
Sure with the 3D effects the movie seems like an amazing technical innovation, but the script sucked. The characters are dull and the relationships between the characters are very typical and generic. The love scenes were too sappy and the fight scenes were very shallow and boring.
There were so many other movies that deserved to win that actually had a good hardy script and decent visuals. Movies that actually made you feel upset, angry or thrilled during scenes that were adventurous but still had just enough emotion in them to make you really feel like you were in the movie. Not scenes like, "Oh no, the big bad human is coming to kill us. Quick! Let's have sex!" like seriously? I think that was the strangest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
Avatar just made me uncomfortable and want to fall asleep. It was boring and dry. It really did not deserve that award.
